Les Paul Vintage Gibson Guitars- A History

Vintage Gibson Les Paul guitars were first produced in 1952. These guitars were the first solid body electric that Gibson had made. The 1952 version of the Les Paul vintage guitar has a gold top nitro-cellulose lacquer finish, and no serial number. This Gibson was designed by Les and included Kluson tuners, pair of P90 pickups, and retailed for $210. These Gibson vintage guitars were simply called 'Les Paul' models, and later became known as Gold Tops because of the finish. Most Les Paul Gibson vintage Gold Tops have a gold colored maple top with natural back, a few guitars were made that had the gold finished all over. In 1954 Gibson launched the Les Paul Custom vintage guitar. The Les Paul Custom has an ebony fretboard, with elaborate bindings on the guitar body and headstock. Among some guitarists this Gibson vintage acquired the name 'black beauty' because of its gold plated hardware and black finish. The Custom was the first fitted with a tune-o-matic bridge and tailpiece. The Les Paul Junior has a flat, uncarved mahogany body with no binding. The Junior guitar is equipped with a single P90 pickup, along with an old wraparound combined bridge/tailpiece. Some Les Paul Juniors were referred to as Les Paul TV models because of their blond/yellow finish instead of a sunburst. Jeremy Hier makes it easy to learn about guitars quickly and easily. Ferrante & Teicher - 10th Anniversary Album

"Fame is often fleeting, and stardom sometimes but a mercurial glow touching the lives of performers with a momentary spark that never quite ignites. In the case of Ferrante and Teicher, the flame has been burning brightly for over a decade."
Ah, the poignancy of yesterday's album notes. Like Ozymandias, they thought their music would last a thousand years - and thanks to the internet, perhaps they might have a few more years in the sun to thrill a new generation with their piano mastery.

Two child prodigies who met in the Julliard School of Music in New York, they formed a binding personal friendship and began a dual career, first as classical pianists, and then, following the huge success of their rendition of Ernest Gold's Exodus, as popular favourites.

In the ten tears of their career to the release of this anniversary album they released sixty records. This double album is a great showcase of the trademark F&T sound, the call and response of their twin pianos, the rich symphonic sound of the strings and french horns, the cascades of runs and arpeggios that ornament the main theme. in short;

"These, truly, are great piano hits...Solid. Glowing. Durable. After a decade of prospecting them, Ferrante and Teicher have undeniably staked a claim as the world's foremost two-piano team. Enjoy them."

Ferrante & Teicher - Pianos In Paradise

Hi folks; Mr S is back after taking the Easter break off to work on a few other projects. It's time for a bit of F&T - yes those groovy, piano-playing, space age gnomes are here with possibly their best work, the exotica classic Pianos in Paradise. This album was released in 1962 and sold over 2 million copies through record clubs alone.

I know some of you will have this record as it has been uploaded elsewhere, but I am in the process of digitizing my albums, and I upload them when I rip 'em, so I can't guarantee they're all albums you've never seen before....They are all high quality 320kbps rips, so it may be worth upgrading your current version if you've got the bandwidth to spare.

Thanks to all the people who left their kind and encouraging comments - I don't always get around to replying, but it's always nice to here from you, and its interesting to see what countries have lounge music fans in them. A special mention to M. le'Xtabay, my antipodean associate who cleverly surmised that I am a fellow Australian by scrutinizing the back album covers of my posts.
